Wingate Anaerobic Test

The Wingate Anaerobic Test is a measure of anaerobic power. The Wingate test is performed on a Monark Wingate Bike that can be weighted with resistance based on a percentage of your body weight for an all out 30 second sprint. The test can measure:
  • Peak power, which is the highest mechanical power that is elicited during the test
  • Mean power that corresponds to, the average power sustained throughout the 30 second period.
  • Percent fatigue, the degree of power drop off during the test. The decline in power output from the beginning to the end of the test represents this percent fatigue. This fatigue can be an indicator of anaerobic power. A high peak power and a low fatigue factor may indicate a person with good anaerobic power.
The Day of your appointment:
  • Wear comfortable clothes (your typical workout clothes).
  • Testing will be done on our Monark Wingate test bike.
  • Have a light meal no less than 2 hours before the test.
  • Must be "healthy" for at least 1 week prior to assessment
  • (women only) must avoid assessment during menstrual cycle
  • Please read the Par-q at bottom of page. If any answers are marked yes please bring a Doctors note stating you’re cleared for vigorous exercising.
