RMR
is the minimum number of calories your body needs to support its basic
physiological functions, including breathing, circulating blood and all
of the numerous biochemical reactions required to keep you alive.
Your RMR is generally 60-75% of your total daily caloric expenditure.Knowing
the minimum number of calories your body needs is important if you're
trying to lose, gain or maintain your current weight.
MEASURED RMR VS. ESTIMATIONS
When RMR is
calculated by estimations it is subject to significant error – as much
as 20% to 25%.* This can lead to an inappropriate nutritional plan for
you.
The "gold standard" for determining RMR is through indirect calorimetry
using a metabolic analyzer which measures both VO2 and VCO2.
WHY MEASURE RMR?
Everyone's metabolism and caloric needs are different.
Your body's metabolism is affected by:
Genetics
Age
Gender
Height
Body Composition
Activity Level
Other physical and environmental factors
Eliminate the frustration and dial in your daily caloric needs. Optimize your athletic performance and weight loss strategy by understanding how many calories you burn at rest and what percentage of fat to carbs you're burning.
